Discover Barge Cadhla
Silent, Sustainable & Eco-Friendly
Enjoy an eco-friendly voyage with our barge, Cadhla – which runs entirely on powerful batteries. Cadhla was Ireland's first electric passenger ship and seamlessly merges the charm of yesteryears with the future of sustainable sailing. Plus, it enables a silent glide, ensuring you not only relax but also take in nature's surrounding sounds. Step aboard for an emission-free cruise along the Grand Canal.
A barge with a story
Cadhla combines tradition and modernity with a hull form based on a traditional Guinness canal barge vessel and a contemporary art-deco interior that exudes elegance and style.
Arriving in Dún Laoghaire, Monkstown by trailer from the Netherlands on 21 December 2009, the first lady of ceremony was her namesake, 4-year-old Miss Keela (Cadhla) Rigby, who cracked a bottle of Guinness Stout across her bows.
Measuring 17 metres in length and 3.8 metres in width, Cadhla prioritises comfort and spaciousness, the interior has a full audio system, an on-board galley (kitchen) and a fully-stocked bar.
